What is Transactional Analysis (TA)?
There are 3 core principles underlying TA:
1) Everyone can think- we are all able to understand ourselves and why we do what we do
2) Everyone can change- we can all use this knowledge to change for the better
3) Everyone is ‘OK’- we all have value regardless of the mistakes and missteps we make in life. Some people struggle to see this value in themselves, or in other people
I believe in these 3 principles, and that following them helps me support clients towards growth, healing, and greater effectiveness in life.
What do we do in TA sessions?
In TA, we analyse how people think, feel, and communicate. As we grow up, we fall into patterns in how we interact with others, and how we see ourselves and the world. Sometimes these patterns can become harmful or may limit us. When I practice TA with clients, we use the 3 principles (everyone can think, everyone can change, everyone is ‘OK’) to look at those patterns, figure out where they come from, and change them for the better.
